Contemporary Townhouse
Lincoln Square Passive Brownstone

This Upper West Side Historic District townhouse was our second certified Passive House retrofit in Manhattan. Our clients were committed to a sustainable home, but did not want to sacrifice a modern, luxurious interior or the historic charm of the brownstone.

We restored the historic façade and reinstalled the previously removed brownstone stoop and front yard.

Before
An extension at the rear façade allowed us to create a two-story wall of glass with passive-certified components. The glazing allows natural light to pour into the kitchen and living room and double height space.

On the interior, we designed an open concept floorplan heavy on modern details. This allowed the 18-foot-wide home to feel spacious and provided unique interior details.
